We cover the brand moves that matter in outdoor, sport and lifestyle.

We look closely at the work, we credit the people behind it, and we connect brands with the best of them.

The industry’s best work deserves better than the feed.

This industry produces extraordinary creative every week, and most of it lives for about a day. A campaign that took a year to make becomes a blip in a social feed, uncredited, on its way to being forgotten. Brand Report exists to pause. We look closely at the work, we take seriously what went into making it, and most of all we find out who’s behind it and say their names. The lens is brand and business strategy read through a creative-trained eye. The posture is admiration and curiosity, never a hot take.

Articles, Index, Shortlist.

Brand Report is three things. Articles analyze the brand moves that matter. Index judges and keeps the best creative work. Shortlist connects brands with the people who make it. Each stands on its own, and each makes the others better: the work we study becomes the work we judge, and the people we credit become the people we introduce.

  • Articles

    Brand moves, analyzed.

Long-form, data-led analysis of what brands in outdoor, sport and lifestyle are actually doing and why it matters. Every piece puts a specific brand at the center, looks at specific creative or strategic work, and makes the case for why a leader at a different company should care.

It’s the contrast to hot takes, opinion and reposted press releases. We publish when there’s an argument worth making, not on a calendar.

  • Index

    The best creative work.

A canon of the best creative work in the category, judged against the Standard: Idea, Craft, Meaning, and Fit — could only this brand have made this? Each entry names the work, states the judgment, and credits everyone who made it. Every studio, agency and person credited gets a page of their own on the site, because the people who make the work should be findable by name.

Index is judged by a named jury working from Zurich to Paris to the UK, not a single editor, which is what makes it a standard rather than an opinion. Submissions are free and always will be.

  • Shortlist

    Vetted creative partners.

Our boutique service for brands that need the right team for a project. Describe the project; we introduce two or three vetted partners — agencies, studios, consultants, independent talent — chosen for fit, and you talk to them directly. Introductions, not pitches. No fee to be considered, no spec work.

Every introduction is made against a published fit framework, every match is measured, and the Index and its credits are the independent record of who actually made what. We’re making creative partnerships an art and a science.

    How Shortlist works

Money never buys judgment.

Nothing enters Index because someone bought the placement, and no payment affects who gets introduced through Shortlist. Brand Report is editorially driven; where something is paid, it is labeled and looks different from everything else on the site. Independence is the product. It’s why the judgment is worth anything, and why the introduction is worth taking.

“I spent twenty years inside these brands, watching the industry’s best work disappear into the feed. Brand Report exists so the work — and the people behind it — get kept.”

Dan CoeFounder, Brand Report

Something you belong to, not just something you read.

Readers choose the subjects they’re notified about. Makers are credited on every Index entry and can submit their work. Partners list themselves, apply to be vetted, and hold a profile in the network. Brands bring a brief and get introduced. Judges are named. If you lead, make, or fund creative work in outdoor, sport and lifestyle, this is built for you.
